Founded in 2022, the National Security School (also known as the School of Political Science, Law, and Public Administration) at Shaanxi Normal University is a teaching and research institution geared to China’s national security strategies with special emphasis on interdisciplinary integration. The School is reputed for its rich academic heritage dating back to the Department of Political Education founded in 1952, which later evolved into the School of Political Economy (1993-2016) and the School of Philosophy and Governmental Administration (2016-2022). In March 2022, the School was officially launched following its reorganization with the Institute of National Security Education. Today, it boasts an integrated pedagogical framework focusing on interdisciplinary development, with the studies on National Security as the core, underpinned by other disciplines such as Political Science, Law, and Public Administration.

As one of the first institutes in China authorized to confer a Master’s degree in National Security studies, our School was approved in 2024 to offer a Doctoral program in National Security as a first-level discipline. With National Security studies as its core mission, the School also actively advances the establishment of Master’s program in the first-level discipline of Public Administration, as well as professional degree programs such as the Master of Public Administration (MPA) and the Juris Master (JM). In addition, the School offers three undergraduate majors in Political Science and Administration, Law, and Administrative Management, with a view to cultivating multi-level and comprehensive talents in state governance to address contemporary challenges.

Our School has been consistently engaged in promoting the construction of platforms and think tanks, having set up six provincial-level platforms, including Shaanxi (College) Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Sciences (National Security Education Research Institute), Shaanxi National Security Education and Training Base, Shaanxi University New Think Tank (Public Governance and Policy Innovation Research Center), Shaanxi Theory and Practice Research Base of the People’s Political Consultative Conference, Xi’an National Security Education and Research Center and so on. Moreover, our School offers a variety of facilities including the laboratory on the virtual simulation of intelligent governance, public crisis emergency decision-making sand table competition platform, mock court, MPA case analysis room, comprehensive laboratory of public management, and the interactive teaching platform for intelligent scenarios of public policy.

I. Recruitment Requirements

(I) Outstanding Talents Positions

1. Candidates should be distinguished scholars who have achieved significant and innovative breakthroughs, demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, and possess substantial academic or social influence.

2. Candidates should be no more than 40 years old if holding an associate senior title, and no more than 45 years old if holding a full senior title. Exceptions may be made for exceptionally qualified individuals.

3. Positions are also open to outstanding young scholars at home and abroad who specialize in Risk Prevention and Control in Key Areas, Security Strategy Research, and related fields.

(II) Regular Faculty Positions

1. Candidates should hold a postgraduate degree or a doctoral degree.

2. Fresh Ph.D. candidates should not be older than 32 years old.

3. We are also looking for candidates with academic backgrounds in National Security, Marxist Theory, Political Science, Law, or Public Administration whose research aligns with key National Security studies of our School. We also eagerly welcome scholars of interdisciplinary studies focusing on Emergency and Security Management, AI and Digital Security Governance, Pedagogy, Cyberspace Security, and other related fields.

4. Candidates should possess strong international communication skills. Candidates without a background in foreign language studies should be able to read and write research papers and deliver academic presentations in at least one foreign language.

5. Candidates should be competent in teaching the main courses in their respective disciplines, and their academic performance should exceed the average level of peers in similar positions at the University. In addition, they should demonstrate strong potential for academic development.
